Spend New Year's Eve at the ghost town of Chloride

Why not spend New Year’s Eve in an old Arizona ghost town?  Chloride, Arizona is a ghost town that really never died—well, almost.  There are ‘ghosts’ of old buildings that folks used to live in…and ‘ghosts’ of old mines that used to produce minerals...and ‘ghosts’ of former residents of Chloride that sits just a few miles off highway US 93 between Kingman and Boulder City.  (There have even been a few ghost sightings of some of the old mining prospectors.)

Chloride is a cozy little town with a population of about 250 people. Its elevation is 4009 feet above sea level and was once a stopping point for the Butterfield Stage and the Santa Fe Railroad.  The old train depot is still there but the ticket window has long closed down.  There is also an old cemetery dating back to the 1880’s to explore.

Now, Chloride does have one motel that hosts a full service restaurant and bar. There is also a convenience store and several gift shops.  Yesterdays Restaurant offers 150 different beers and food ranging from sandwiches, burgers, to full course meals, and provides nightly entertainment.

On that note, come celebrate New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2011) with dinner, dancing and fun at the NEW YEAR’S EVE GALA at YESTERDAYS in a real live ghost town!  Reservations are required for this event.  Call 928-565-2669 for more details.

To get to Chloride:  Drive to Highway US 93 (between Kingman and Boulder City), turn east at mile post marker 53, and onto Mohave County Rte 125.  It is time to raise your glass and toast the New Year with a few “spirits”!
