Ever since The Amazing Spider-Man was announced many people have questioned why the franchise is getting a re-boot so soon since the original trilogy ended back in 2007.

Well it doesn’t look like that stopped anyone from going to see the film because The Amazing Spider-Man has made $65 million on its opening weekend.

The $65 million opening weekend is enough for film to take first place at the box office which is impressive seeing as how the film was released at midnight on Tuesday. The film has grossed $140 million through its first five days.

Where does this opening rank among the rest? Well it’s the fourth highest Independence Day weekend opening behind Transformers ($70 million), Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($97 million), and Spider-Man 2 ($88 million).

Compared to the other Spider-Man films The Amazing Spider-Man ranks fourth behind Spider-Man 3 ($151 million), Spider-Man ($114 million), and Spider-Man 2 ($88 million) respectively.
