Here we are in the fifth day of the U.S. government shutdown. But don’t despair. A few local restaurants are offering government employees a little help for the duration.
At Clyde’s of Georgetown (3236 M St.NW, 202/333-9180), all cans of beer are $3, while Leinkugel’s summer shandy draft and Starr Hill Pils draft are $4 each. All Absolut and Maker’s Mark cocktails, Fireball and Rumchata shots are also $4, while Rosemont Shiraz is being offered at $5 per glass. Blue Plate specials are under $10.
Clyde’s of Chevy Chase (5441 Wisconsin Ave., Chevy Chase, 301/951-9600) will reduce all checks with valid government ID (excluding loobster specials) by 20 percent.
Asia Nina (915 E St.NW, 202/629-9180) is offering a 10 percent discount for government workers during the duration of the shutdown.
The Daily Dish in Silver Spring (8301A Grubb Rd, Silver Spring, 301/588-6300) is offering free cups of coffee to all government workers during the shutdown. No purchase is necessary. Members of Congress, however, must pay double.
You may be gone (temporarily) but you are not forgotten.
