Special Olympic state winter games results

       Delegation 26 from Williamson County sent six athletes to the annual winter games in Gatlinburg. Hosted at the Ober Resort, the athletes arrived on Sunday, January 31st.  The  torch relay began Mondau moring at 9:15 am and the athletes enjoyed a dance Monday night. The award presentation was held on Tuesday afternoon.

      Kenion Carlisle won a Gold Medal in the Alpine-Slalom and a Silver Medal in the Alpine-Giant Slalom. Caitlyn Clymer, from Brentwood, won a Silver Medal in the Alpine-Glide and a Bronze in the Alpine 10M Race. Leslie Mims earned a Silver Medal in the Alpine-Slalom and a Bronze in the Alpine Glide. Christine Statum won a Bronze in the Alpine-Giant Slalom and came in fourth in the Alpine-Slalom. The youngest athlete at 16, Kara Hawkins, won two Gold Medals in the Alpine-Slalom and the Alpine-Giant Slalom. Adam Finland competed in snowboarding.
