If you’re planning on attending the Gary Blair Radio Show tonight, there’s every good reason to get to Wings ‘N More early. On Feb. 10, 2014, Texas A&M Athletics announced the special guests for tonight’s show, co-hosted by Texas A&M Asst. Athletic Director Steve Miller and Blair, Head Coach for Texas A&M women’s basketball.
The program will feature Achiri Ade and Tavarsha Scott-Williams, two junior college transfers who’ve made substantial contributions to the Aggie women’s basketball program this year. Expect some fun as Achiri attempts to get Coach Blair to say her name correctly. There’s been a fun “Girl’s Talk” video shown at Reed Arena, where she jokes that her name is actually pronounced “A-chi-ree” with the hard ‘ch’ sound, and Coach still says “A-sheer-I,” which makes for some fun between the two.
Another special guest will be Asst. Head Coach Bob Starkey and his wife Sherie, a breast cancer survivor. Sunday’s game against LSU was, of course, the “Beat the Hell Out of Breast Cancer” game for Texas A&M with proceeds of t-shirt sales and auction items going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to support breast cancer research.
Coach Starkey will share his thoughts on the Aggies vs. LSU game, a very special one since he was coaching there just two years ago. The No. 19 Aggies won 72-67 over the No. 16 Lady Tigers, in a very tough match, and the new national rankings will be updated to reflect that soon.
A preview of the two tough games the Aggies face this week with Georgia at home and on the road against Alabama will be discussed. All the fans are invited to join the coaches and meet the Aggies tonight from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. or they can listen in on WTAW (1620 AM). The public is also invited to attend the Gary Blair luncheon set for Tues., Feb. 11, 2014 at the Cox-McFerrin Center. For reservation details and costs, click here.
The Billy Kennedy Radio program follows from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., so come early and plan to stay for both shows to support your fighting Texas Aggie basketball teams.
