Special Delivery was offered by the United State Postal Service from 1885 until 1997, which essentially meant that a letter would be dispatched more immediately and directly from the receiving post office to the recipient rather than being put in mail for distribution on the regular delivery route. As we look in the Holy Scriptures, Jesus speaks of a special delivery in the gospel of Luke 16:19, “And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried.” Taking a closer look at the beggar, Lazarus; although his life was overshadowed with sufferings, it is evident that he kept faith in the Lord. Job proclaimed, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.” (Job 14:1) Many are the afflictions of those who earnestly call upon the name of the Lord. Deliverance may seem to be distant, but it is nearby. The prophet spoke so true, “they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isa. 40:31)
Depending upon the special delivery items; the post office personnel may ask the fragility of the item(s) to be mailed. Often times when packaging a special delivery item; newspaper, Styrofoam or bubble wrap is used as protection from damage while the item travels to its destination. The Lord promised to wrap the righteous with salvation, “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.” (Isa. 61:10) Those that live and die in the Lord have a blessed assurance; they are the Lord’s most precious delivery, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” (Ps. 116:15)
