Spears and Trawick have split. On Jan. 11, a source confirmed the news to PEOPLE Magazine after months of speculation surrounding the status of Britney and Jason's relationship. The couple been engaged for over a year but after the two failed to move forward with wedding plans, rumors started floating around... and now those rumors are true.
"Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends," Britney said in a statement. "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever," added Jason.
The Spears Trawick split has offset the news that Britney won't return as a mentor on "X Factor" in season 3. It is unknown how long ago the couple actually split -- according to TMZ, Trawick didn't want to break the news to the world until he was taken off the conservatorship. There reportedly was a court hearing today.
Britney and Jason spent the past three years together, raising Britney's boys (with ex, Kevin Federline), going on lavish vacations -- like their trip to Hawaii -- and really seeming to "get" each other. The two had been friends for years as Jason was Britney's agent before he became her lover, so their relationship seemed really easy.
The Spears Trawick split is said to be amicable though and the two will remain "friends." However, it is believed that Jason will no longer have an involvement in managing Britney's career. According to TMZ, Britney recently switched agencies.
