Chad Ochocinco of the New England Patriots is preparing for the challenge of playing in the upcoming Super Bowl against the New York Giants.
The standout wide receiver took some time to exchange messages with a Twitter friend who plays in a different forum, House Speaker John Boehner.
Ochocinco was watching the State of the Union address and noticed “the guy over Obamas left shoulder,” which happened to be Boehner.
The NFL star then sent a tweet to the House Speaker.
“I can see you on tv but you're not smiling. Hope you're ok,” Ochocinco wrote.
The next day he sent the following message: “If all else seems bad in life, just remember I love you kind sir.”
Boehner is a longtime die-hard Cincinnati Bengals fan, the team in which Ochocinco began his NFL career.
The House Speaker wished Ochocinco good luck in the Super Bowl, and he told the wide receiver that he expects his Bengals will meet Ochocinco’s team in next year’s playoffs.
Boehner tweeted his athlete friend again, demonstrating his mastery of hash tags.
“Just another day on @Twitter talking #4jobs, #KXL, & football w/@ochocinco #Bengals #WhoDey,” Boehner wrote.
The football player expressed his happiness in receiving tweets from the Speaker of the House, posting that it was “totally awesome that John Boehner just tweeted me.”
One of Ochocinco’s Twitter followers teased the football star, writing that he “didn't even know who he [Boehner] was until last night.”
The wide receiver posted this response: “Well now we are friends.”
