With progressive movements taking place all over the country and support flowing all around the world, YouTube Vlogger and ex-NJ musician Destiny Vargas, has made the bold move to begin asking for donations to start up a concert in support of those in LGBT community who feel closeted by the pressures of the world.
"Speak out now campaign is in the process of trying to set up an epic benefit concert for the lgbt community. The concert will consist of cover artists, singers, rappers, poets, dancers, and idividuals who want to share their story. In order to create something huge like this, we need to money to do so. If we were millionaires, we would fund this entire project out of pocket but we aren't so we are hoping that there are supporters who want to help. The money we raise here will go to finding a venue, food vendors, merchandise to sell, tickets, raffles and much more. The money we raise from the concert will be split up evenly between 4 lgbt foundations: 25% even to speak out, the Trevor project, hrc, and it gets better. We are trying our best to get lgbt youtubers to participate and lend a helping hand. Hope that you find it in your hearts to donate. Love to you all." Vargas' statement on her GoFundMe page.
We don't need to tell you how difficult it can be out there for some people. We talked to a host of anonymous individuals in the music scene in bands today that were remiss that they hadn't come out yet even to their own congregation. Speak Out Now is an opportunity for fans of the NJ/NY music scene, and bands alike to come forward ask for change, and just feel welcome among their own people. As a musician herself, this one hits home personally.
You can help out the cause by donating at their GoFundMe page, and check back for updates on who'll be playing soon.
