SPD, ADHD and ODD up close and personal
There are many books, magazines and Internet discussions on how to "cure these disorders", who to go to and what medicine you should and shouldn't have. It is a daily battle to understand these disorders and how to "treat" them (rather than cure them).
People often feel that they have passed this onto their children; there is so much beyond it than that. There are many topics that will help you to understand these disorders in "whole" and how to deal or handle them. These disorders do not define a child as to who they are, but yet rather make them stronger, and as they get older to understand what it is that they need to do to help themselves.
I truly feel that, as a parent, we know what is best for our children and sometimes going with our "gut" instinct can prove to be quite beneficial for them. In time, it is best to always remember: "This too shall pass" (a very wise and loving grandmother's phrase that I live by).
I would love to share information, articles, insights and helpful hints that may assist in your search for treatment and understanding and loving encouragement for the people in our lives with disorders.
