Spc. Cody Suggs death in Kandahar under investigation

Late this afternoon, the Department of Defense announced the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Spc. Cody D. Suggs, 22, of West Alexandria, Ohio, died March 7, 2013, at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan.

Spc. Suggs’ death is listed as a non-combat incident and remains under investigation by the U.S. military.

He was assigned to the 1487th Transportation Company (Piqua, Ohio), which is part of the 371st Sustainment Brigade (Springfield, Ohio).

The family of Spc. Suggs has been notified of his death, however, they have not released any information regarding funeral arrangements.

Kandahar Airfield is located southeast of Kandahar City and was built by the U.S. government in the 1960s. Since 2006, Kandahar Airfield has been maintained by NATO.
