Announcing the first-ever FixFest – an area-wide, low cost spay and neuter day that will be held in conjunction with the annual WorldFest “Earth Day” celebration on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Woodley Park in Lake Balboa, California. (A handful of veterinary clinics will participate on Saturday, May 17th, as they are not open on Sundays. Participating clinics listed below.)

FixFest is a coalition of veterinary programs aimed at curbing the pet overpopulation by offering low-cost spaying and neutering of dogs and cats. Not only will professionally outfitted mobile spay/neuter units be stationed at WorldFest, but veterinary clinics throughout the Los Angeles area will also participate.

Los Angeles residents who bring their pets with an appointment to FixFest or to one of the participating facilities will receive a complimentary ticket to WorldFest, so they can attend this celebratory event while their pets are being "fixed."

The first 30 participants at each clinic will also receive a gift bag of select items for people and pets.

WorldFest is a day-long, family-friendly, solar-powered, entertainment and education event dedicated to sustainability, environmentalism, and animal welfare.

A reminder that an appointment is necessary to bring a pet to a mobile unit at WorldFest for spaying or neutering. (Also note that, per local health regulations, the only pets allowed at the park location of WorldFest are service animals, pets previously designated as up for adoption through specific organizations, or for FixFest cats or dogs.)

If you haven’t yet neutered your pets, you owe it to them, and to the thousands of unwanted pets who die in shelters each year because of overpopulation. And if you haven’t yet attended WorldFest – you owe it to yourself to go!

For more information on FixFest or to participate as a low-cost veterinarian or spay/neuter clinic, please contact or call 213-973-7877.

Please be advised that free or low-cost surgeries for pets are available to residents able to prove income level. Participating organizations:

Ark Sciences Charities will be performing "Zeuters" non-surgical sterilization using Zeuterin™ on male dogs for a $25 donation to Ark Sciences Charities, (but no one turned away for lack of funds). (213) 973-787
