You have only to visit any one of a number of county or city run animal shelters to see that the need for adoptive homes is far greater than could ever be found. This results in an estimated 6,000 animals being destroyed in shelters across Georgia every single day.
The HSUS estimates that animal shelters care for 6-8 million dogs and cats every year in the United States. Of this number, approximately 3-4 million are euthanized. That is a 50% euthanization rate country-wide.
Georgia cannot adopt itself out of this mess. There are thousands of unwanted pets in Georgia at this moment who face a dismal future. Please, do not add to these statistics. Spay and neuter your pets!
