From SCL Promoter, Jeff Cisneros:
“Ok SCL supporters, as you know every show we benefit a great cause. Meet Tom Wright...not only one of our fighters and friends but a dam good guy! Well, while training to fight in January, Tom suffered a broken collarbone that required surgery and he did not have insurance to cover the cost of the surgery. The surgery bill came to $11,000.00, not to mention the loss of let’s have an auction and raise some cash for him during Saturday’s fights. You can also support him by buying tickets directly from Tom. Anybody that knows Tom knows he would give anyone the shirt off his back, so let’s remember these fighters put it all on the line for the fans and promotions….so lets pay back a little in gratitude!”

That message is directly from Jeff himself and it shows the commitment to donate by the ever growing SCL. Tomorrow’s card is yet another example of the match-ups that are helping Denver’s MMA fighters expose themselves to the bigger stages and organizations of the sport. SCL has become an excellent feeder system to the likes of Bellator, RFA, MFC in Canada, Legacy Fighting Championships and a host of other larger promotions.

Saturday February 22nd….Returning to The Grizzly Rose (5450 N Valley Hwy, Denver, CO 80216) cage tomorrow is the high level ground game of FactoryX’s mat-master, Nick “Quick” Honstein. Honstein is coming off a very impressive performance in his last outing that showed his all-world grappling skills. Honstein really made a statement in that last fight by showing a demonic aggression that we haven’t consistently seen in him. He faces a very tough and aggressive Nate Williams in what could be a very entertaining scrap between the little guys.

We also will be treated to Krieger Muay Thai’s own, Garrett “The Pink Panther” Culpepper in a professional 170 lb Muay Thai fight that will see him take on Las Vegas’ very tough headhunter, Jay Orallo. Culpepper is coming off a loss in his last outing that seemed to be a real pivotal point for the long and lean Muay Thai fighter. He admittedly said that too many things went wrong leading up to that fight, as well as his “defensive” performance in the cage. Culpepper will be looking to rebound from that loss with a very offensive, technical and methodical gameplan to signify that Denver has not seen the last of “The Pink Panther”.

Returning to the SCL cage is Fort Collins fighter based out of Trials MMA, Brian Scraper. Scraper is known for putting on some incredibly exciting fights and a guy that always gets the crowd screaming. He will be facing one of our sport’s “good-guys” in Willie Smalls. Smalls will straight up fight anyone at anytime and fight them anywhere….luckily for us fans, he will fight Scraper right in the center of the SCL cage on Saturday afternoon. Based on the history of these two sluggers, this fight is Examiner’s Pick for “Fight of the Night”. Don’t miss these two slug it out!

As always, SCL has been exploding and the crowds have been INCREDIBLE at the Grizzly Rose (. Last month’s show was so full that latecomers to the show were turned away….so get there early….and get there ready to go because tomorrow’s fights are all about Tom Wright!

Here’s the rest of the fight card scheduled for tomorrow at The Grizzly Rose. Weigh-ins are open to the public tonight at The Ugly Dog Café located at: 1345 Cortez St, Denver, CO 80221.

Tomorrow, Saturday….Grizzly Rose doors open at 1:00pm….fights start at 2:00.

Then come check out UFC 170 Rousey vs McMann at The Ugly Dog Café for free fights with a ton of drink & food specials for all SCL fans.
