Sparkling Finale to the 25th annual IPNC

Continued from: Saturday at the 2011 IPNC

Sunday morning at the International Pinot Noir Celebration has a single event, the Sparkling Brunch Finale, from 10 am until noon. I didn't realize that they still provided a breakfast buffet and coffee earlier, so I ventured out instead to Dutch Bros. for coffee and ate a pastry I snagged the day before.

We lined up for the brunch and I had a nice conversation with some teachers from the Seattle area. They said they come every-other year, to give a respite in between.

The brunch featured sparking wines, served in order and in small quantities. I guess this was to reduce risks of the patrons going home tipsy. We had Argyle 2007 Brut Sparkling, Blue Mountain Vineyard Brut Sparkling, Champagne Rene Geoffroy Cumieres Rouge, and Gloria Ferrer 2002 Royal.

The food included a buffet of pastries, eggs and ham and separate stations for other delicious bites: Pine State Biscuits with wild mushroom gravy, Mother's Bistro salmon hash, EaT: an Oyster Bar oysters, and sushi from Kame. I picked a table in the shade and had marvelous conversations for two hours.

There were brief speeches to close out the event and celebrate the organizers who had kept it growing for 25 years.

Attendees had the opportunity to sign up at an early-early bird rate for the 2012 event, to be held July 27-29. I had been dithering, but ultimately decided I needed to return after getting the spirit of IPNC. Mine was the last registration in the box before they stored it away.
