Spark Trooper is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled today Jan. 17, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Gatecrash." Revealed in an article by Jacob Van Lunen on MagicTheGathering.com, Spark Trooper is a frightfully fast and powerful creature for Boros players to abuse.

Izzet-designed conductors atop Sunhome charge empty sets of armor that give form to the fluctuating elementals.

A 12 point life swing for four mana can have a significant impact on your game. Lunen points out the deadly combination of Spark Trooper pairing with and attacking fourth turn with your Silverblade Paladin.
Because Spark Trooper has haste it can enable your battalion creatures like Firefist Striker, Frontline Medic, or Firemane Avenger. Thanks to trample, Spark Trooper can potentially add two counters to your Five-Alarm Fire.
One way to take advantage of Spark Trooper's downside is to turn it into a boon by enchanting it with a Murder Investigation in order to gain six 1/1 Soldier creature tokens. You'll have to watch out though, because you might end up finding yourself the subject of a two-for-one off an opponent's removal spell.
Spark Trooper's effectiveness in competitive play may rely upon how prevelant Blind Obedience becomes, and Boros players without an Oblivion Ring might find themselves holding a dead card in their hand.
