Spark children into movement using the spring theme of baby birds

See also

Spring is the season for the arrival of baby birds. Children find the story of the baby bird hatching from an egg in the nest into a young bird learning to fly fascinating. Use the theme of baby birds to inspire children to move and get physically active. Begin this movement activity by taking the children on a nature walk and look for bird nests. Watch the bird nest and observe for any activity.

Upon returning from the nature walk have a "circle time" discussion about all the things the children saw along the way. Have the children use their imaginations and create movements for the various things they observed. Share/move the cycle of a baby bird (egg in the nest, hatching, and learning to fly).

Enhance this activity with the special Baby Bird theme link below.
