The 9th Annual Spanish Peaks Music Festival is coming up September 26-29, 2013 in beautiful Southern Colorado, and the musical lineup is outstanding.
The featured super stars include three of Ireland’s top-ranking treasured performers – harpist Maire Ni Chathasaigh; guitarist John Doyle; and singer Robbie O’Connell – plus Britain’s premier guitarist Chris Newman. From Scotland, we will be joined by the amazing Tannahill Weavers, who have recently been voted into Scotland’s Hall of Fame. For our JAZZ accent, world-acclaimed jazz harpist Park Stickney arrives on the scene to rock the Festival, and we welcome the eclectic young fiddler, Duncan Wickel, who divides his talents between playing Irish traditional music and jazz!
The ever popular Mairtin de Cogain, County Cork’s singer, storyteller, and bodhran player extraordinaire, returns to charm and amuse us. New to this year’s Festival are the versatile and delightful sisters from Nova Scotia, Cassie and Maggie MacDonald, who are making a big splash in the US, Canada and Europe. The sisters will share their traditional songs and tunes and dance up a storm. Having cast our nets as far as Brittany, we offer the world music of French guitarist Frederic Pouille and flutist Lesley Anne Harrison of Folk Ragout. We are also pleased to welcome lovely singer Ashley Davis, collector of songs from the Isle of Man and Ireland. Rounding out our stellar line-up is Sean McComiskey, a gifted and accomplished Irish button accordionist and son of the famed Billy McComiskey.
Finally, having admirably shared the stage with Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill to a standing ovation at last year’s concert, we have Adam Agee and Jon Sousa returning fresh from a very successful European tour and back to Spanish Peaks for a second year.
