With as much rain as Atlanta gets – yes, Seattle and Portand – you have nothing on Hotlanta – rain boots are an investment in themselves… And if you’ve read my previous articles on jelly shoes, you know I adore all types of jelly footwear, and now these very “Space Age” silver glitter jelly boots.

Being tropical in the summertime (and snowy in the winter!) when most of the rain is received, it’s a good idea to keep ones rain boots, or “Wellingtons” as they’re also known, as short as possible if you’re in metro Atlanta. In fact you wouldn’t go wrong with crocs either, but these ankle boots are a little bit dressier…

These are actually Chelsea style jelly boots, which means they have an elastic gore on at least one side of the shoe – in this case, on both sides of the shoes. They’re being offered by asos.com and retail around $25. Other British purveyors of this type of boot are charging more, so they’re not as expensive as you think, if you think you can get them for $10 to $15 – but with silver or gold glitter in them – they’re pretty hard to find!

As for sizing, these jelly boots are pretty true to size, so you could wear them with thin socks. Being pointed they are a little bit longer, but don’t let that fool you as your toes will reach only up to a certain point. My US shoe size 8.5 is normally the UK 6, which are listed as being a US 9 on asos.com. So, ordering the US 9 was a bit of a gamble for me, because I’m a half size smaller but the US 9 fits quite perfectly!

They’re right on trend but as for versatility, they’re amazing because the neutral metallic silver and black will go with just about anything. They can be worn with everything from dresses to shorts, but show them off one must – with or without rain! Personally, I’ll be thinking of Robin Williams as “Mork” in “Mork & Mindy” when I’ll be wearing them, nannu, nannu…
