With so many spas to choose from and so little time to experience them I decided it was time to list a few of my favorites by price and amenities in the San Diego area.
High-End Day Spa
The Spa at Torrey Pines, located in La Jolla, packs a punch with a beautiful setting inside and outside. If you’re ready to splurge on a spa treatment this is the place to go. With a men’s and women’s lounge area, nine treatment rooms, hydrotherapy room, vichy room, steam and sauna room, nail salon and an ‘inhale’ room your sure to have a great day. After your treatments head out to the Grill located on the property for indoor or outdoor dining while sipping on a great glass of wine.
Mid-Priced Day Spa
Revive Salon & Spa, located on Frazee Road in San Diego, offers a wide range of services including hair, nails, make-up, laser hair removal, waxing, Botox/Juvederm, teeth whitening, Microdermabrasion, facials, and massages.
Specials are offered throughout the year. During the month of February, Tuesdays are discount day. Massages and facials are $50 each for 50-minutes, eyebrow waxing is $15 and other waxing treatments are 25% off. The facility is nicely laid out with hair and make-up on one side of the facility, nails in a separate area, and all other services in a quite closed off section of the building.
Wine is complimentary with any service and if you join their Elite Access Membership you’ll receive a complimentary blow dry on your birthday plus 10% off of waxing services. In addition, you’ll earn points for every dollar spent, which converts into real cash discounts. As an added bonus, the spa is located a block and half from Fashion Valley Mall so after a relaxing half day at Revive you can get your shopping on at stores like Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom.
Budget Conscious Spa Day
I recently visited Bellus Academy in Poway, CA. It’s a full service salon and spa educational and training center. The students that perform services on clients are generally in their final phases of training whether it is hair, nail service, make-up, waxing, massage therapy, or estheticians.
Treatments are generally half the price of a standard day spa. I had both a facial and a massage. I will say I enjoyed the facial much more than the massage. The draw back to the budget pricing is the staging of the facility. The walls are cloth dividers and there’s not a lot of privacy. But, for me, the facial was very relaxing and offered all the benefits of a high-end treatment. Bellus Academy has four locations: Poway, CA; El Cajon, CA, Manhattan, KS; and National City, CA. They also offer deeper discounts for pre-paid packages. It’s a great spot to consider if you’re on a tight budget and still are looking for the benefits of spa.
With fantastic weather in San Diego, spending a day honoring yourself with spa treatments and lunch is a relaxing and enjoyable way to bring balance and calmness back into your life. Go out and find that perfect spa for you whatever your budget is.
