Spa Coeur d’Alene complements splendor of lake view

The night before a spa service at The Spa Coeur d’Alene, in Coeur d'Alene, North Idaho, enjoy a sip or two of a Huckleberry Lemondrop Martini while taking in the breathtaking lakeside/mountainside view at Beverly’s, the resort’s signature 5-star restaurant. End your evening with a few bites of dessert: a warm, chocolate smore cake, with its warm chocolate cake and graham cracker crust, marshmallow filling, topped with a graham cookie and toasted meringue. You’ll feel like you’re in heaven, especially after you cozy in to the luxurious bedding in an executive suite that offers a front view of the lake’s harbor.

The setup for a spa visit is complete.

Once escorted into the spa, you’ll be smitten yet again by the marvelous views of the lake, but drawn to the downpouring of a waterfall situated aside the staircase leading upstairs to where it is recommended you receive a hot stone massage. But first, a wait in the transition room, where the view takes center stage again. Although the fireplace and décor are exquisite, you just can’t beat that mesmerizing lake/mountain view.

Once settled on the massage table, however, the view is the last thing on your mind. Silky strokes, courtesy of the rocks used to massage, are mostly hot, but there are some cold stones utilized in the form of “encapsulated hydrotherapy.” An alternate treatment of hot and cold is good for a fresh blood supply, and even though you may squirm a bit when the cold stones are used (a warning is issued, 50 minutes later, you are sure to be floating in a state of relaxation and feeling of wellness -- to that quiet transition room again, with that signature Coeur d’Alene depthful view.

You’ll want to stay, but may have to move along for a 2-hour scenic boat ride along the lake, a trip worth taking. But, if you have more time, take a seat at the Lash Bar, where guests may order up a full or partial set of lash extensions, brow shaping – or indulge in a  shampoo, manicure or pedicure. Or maybe test out the water wellness therapy with a waterfalls massage. More indigenous to the area would be the Mountain Moor Mud Kur, which includes a mineral bath, mud wrap and a 50-minute hydrating massage (110 minutes, $240).

Many more packages are available, and worth a splurge or two, lakeside. Visit http://www.cdaresort.com/spato view the full menu.
