Sox lose fourth in a row

The slide continues. The White Sox didn’t have any answers for Phil Hughes last night and the Pale Hose fell to the New York Yankees 6-0 in seven innings (rain shortened). The loss marks the fourth defeat in a row and moved the club to 5 ½ games behind the division leading Detroit Tigers.

Frustration has started to brew in the clubhouse as the team is now four games under .500 and seem to be heading in the wrong direction. Speaking to the Chicago Tribune after the game, Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen claimed the season isn’t over just yet:

"I'm not going to give up. I'm not going to give in. I think the players should know that. It's easy when you give up. When the manager gives up, everything goes apart. Players will give up on themselves. Players will give up on the team. But when the manager gives up on his team, that's the worst thing about it. I'm not going to give up."

The Southsiders will look to turn around their fortunes tonight at 7 PM CT when Gavin Floyd (9-9) takes the bump at US Cellular. The righty has been the club’s best pitcher since the all-star break picking up three wins and carrying a miniscule .81 ERA over that span. He will be opposed by AJ Burnett (8-9). Hopefully a trend continues for AJ as well. #34 is 0-2 with a 4.74 ERA since the break.
