SOX IS A VERY LUCKY DOG AFTER ALMOST PERISHING IN A BATHROOM

In December of 2011, two young children told their teacher, they thought a puppy was slowly dying in their bathroom. The teacher alerted the SPCA of Tampa. Investigators found a Yorkshire terrier - poodle mix with a rubber band around his snout. He could not eat or drink and the band was so tight it had made a hole. He was taken to a veterinarian, the wound was found to be severe, eating into the bone and nerves. The wound was also infected. The dog was covered in fleas and feces, living in deplorable conditions in a bathroom.

More than one hundred people inquired about this little guy named Sox. Twenty-five filled out applications to adopt him. He was on the road to recovery after getting medical care and much needed love and attention. He improved dramaticly while living at his foster home, learning how to trust people and run and play like a puppy. His wound on his snout is almost healed and can barely be noticed.

The SPCA wanted a family to adopt him with other dogs, they wanted him to learn how to be a dog. Lori Chambers heard about his story and filled out the required application. She wanted to give this puppy a home and love, something he had never known. She was one of three picked to get interviewed and meet Sox. At first glance she knew she wanted him and on Feb.9th she learned she was going to be his new owner. She has two other dogs that are now teaching Sox how to be a dog. Sox is an ambassador for the SPCA with a silver collar and leash which he proudly wears. A luckey dog indeed thanks to a teacher who listened and acted. His former owner Tieesha Cogdell of Clearwater Fl. will be in court on Monday charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.
