Back for another installment. Without any delay, let’s get started:
Q: Thoughts on the John Danks deal?
A: Don’t love, don’t hate it. I don’t see John as top of the order starter and I cringe when pitchers get five-year deals, but he’s a nice young arm that Kenny will now have possession of during what should be the peak of his career. I think what will be more telling for this rotation in the short run is which Jake Peavy we get next year and if they can find a way to keep Gavin Floyd.
Q: Are the Sox serious about Cespedes?
A: Yep, but so are a bunch of other clubs. The new frontrunner appears to be the Florida Marlins and their never ending stream of revenue. The Nationals like him as well and should they win the derby that would be one less team interested in Carlos Quentin.
Q: What’s the latest on Carlos?
A: Not much. The team’s asking price appears to be pretty high. The last team I heard that contacted the club with legitimate interest was the Toronto Blue Jays. The men north of the border currently have Eric Thamas slated to be their opening day leftfielder…so maybe they try to get something done and move the 2011 all-star over.
