Southwest celebrates 3 decades of airline service to Las Vegas - free trip offer

Southwest Airlines began air service to Las Vegas in 1982 and commemorated their 30 year commitment to the community today in a joint anniversary celebration. The anniversary gig included partners McCarran International Airport and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, along with the participation of many Southwest employees from all over the US.

Southwest has long been the dominant domestic air carrier to and from Las Vegas, with nearly 16 million passengers processed in 2011. Southwest accounts for nearly 40% of all passenger traffic at McCarran. City and airport officials today recognized Southwest's significant impact on the local economy. Former mayor Oscar Goodman concluded the event with a toast to the next 30 year partnership between Las Vegas, the airport, and Southwest.

Southwest is launching the Venture to Vegas Twitter Contest to include customers in this 30 year anniversary celebration. The contest allows @SouthwestAir Twitter followers chances to answer Vegas - themed riddles presented from the airline by submitting photos with answers to the assorted riddles. Winners get  a Vegas Vacation Getaway including roundtrip airfare and hotel. Visit this Southwest link to obtain complete details including contest rules and entry.
