If you’re looking for a late winter or spring getaway to warmer climes, or perhaps a trip to visit family or friends, Southwest Airlines has a new airfare sale that could be of interest. Valid for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from February 21 through June 6, 2012, the mega-discount carrier has great low fares to destinations around the country. There is a 10-day advance purchase requirement, seats are limited and may not be available on all flights, and most importantly, you must make your reservations by February 16. There’s no better way to surprise your valentine than with a vacation for a long weekend to someplace special.
Southwest serves the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport from Terminal 2/Humphrey with daily non-stops to Chicago-Midway, St. Louis, Denver and Phoenix. Early connections are available to scores of additional destinations from these hub airports. Sample one-way fares which now include all taxes and fees include: Chicago, $69; Phoenix, $151; Washington, D.C., $178; Oakland/San Francisco, $198 and Orlando, $215. There is no requirement to make a round-trip purchase and as always, only on Southwest, ‘bags fly free’. There is no charge for up to two checked bags per traveler.
Additionally, Southwest operates a fleet of nearly 700 Boeing 737 aircraft, all configured with comfortable leather seats and large overhead storage compartments. Wi-fi internet access is being installed in all aircraft, and the cost per flight is just $5, versus $10-12 on most other airlines.
