Fans of organic food in the Park Cities have reason to celebrate: the Dallas-grown Southpaw's Organic Cafe now has a location at Equinox Highland Park. The upscale gym chain welcomed Southpaw's to their Oak Lawn Avenue location on July 21 with menus suited to any time of day. Steel-cut oatmeal, vanilla-almond granola and egg wraps puncuate the morning menu while lunch and dinner patrons can select from build-your-own bowls, sandwiches and wraps. The location is open to members and non-members alike and focuses on local or "near local" ingredients without added preservatives or sugars. Southpaw's sources breads from Signature Baking Company, meats from Boar's Head, and produce from a variety of local and regional producers such as Earthbound, Whole Foods, and Fresh Point.
Another outlet at the Equinox location in Preston Hollow will follow later this summer. JuJu by Southpaw's will serve a selection of fresh-squeezed juices, smoothies and coffee in addition grab-and-go items and special menu items rotated biweekly. Southpaw bills itself as "not 100% organic, but made with 100% love". According to Southpaw's website, the availability of some items may vary with seasonal availability of regionally sourced ingredients. Outside of the new Equinox locations, Southpaw's also operates eateries at Preston Center and in Uptown on McKinney Avenue.
