"Southland" is ready to return to Channel 26 in Tempe. On Saturday, Feb. 9, Spoiler TV shared the photos released for "Southland" episode 5.02 titled "Heat." On the episode teased in these new photos, Mendoza will be injured in a drive-by shooting. Mendoza is played by guest star Chad Michael Murray. Ben will take it upon himself to solve the crime, but this won't make Sammy happy. Lydia will get back to work as a detective, and she will investigate the death of a female boxer's husband. Cooper and Steele will also have their issues on duty.
TV Guide has also shared new spoilers detailing what fans should expect for the start of season five. The site revealed the following:
"The new season begins with Officer Sherman receiving a medal for his bravery for shooting that pimp in the Season 4 finale. As Sherman continues to be recognized as the LAPD golden boy, look for his partnership with Sammy to become more and more strained. And Cooper has a new boyfriend — or at least a friend with benefits. Cooper's unwillingness to commit could endanger the former addict's sobriety."
