Southern Thanksgiving Menus

Growing up in the South gives way to familiar dishes. It is not uncommon to find family, neighbors, and even co-workers preparing the exact same menu. Below are suggested menus taken directly from southern experiences and family traditions.

Menu 1:  Fried or Baked Turkey, Honey Glazed Ham, Traditional Cornbread Dressing and Gravy, Southern Potato Salad (the kind with mustard and sweet pickle relish), Sweet Peas, Corn Casserole, Cranberry Sauce, Homemade Oven Baked Macaroni and Cheese, Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey Wings, Rolls, 7-Up Pound Cake with Lemon Glaze, Red Velvet Cake, White Cake with Chocolate Frosting, and Sweet Potato Pie

Menu 2:  Turkey with Stuffing, Ham, Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Rolls, Pecan Pie, and Black Forest Chocolate Cake

Menu 3 (Louisiana Style):  Cajun Injected Fried Turkey, Traditional and Duck Dressing, Rice Dressing, Spicy Seafood or Andouille Sausage Gumbo, Praline Topped Sweet Potato Pie, Warm Bread Pudding

Menu 4 (On the lighter side):  Pork Tenderloin, Slow Cooked Smothered Cabbage, Coursely Chopped Parsley Potatoes, Spring Greens Salad Mix with Vinaigrette, Sponge Cake with Strawberry Topping
