The Southern Policy Law Center recently released their so-called annual “Intelligence Report,” labeling groups which oppose illegal immigration as “Nativist Extremist.”
Heidi Beirich, director of research for the SPLC says that they consider these groups to be extreme because they tend to be confrontational with illegal aliens, “where they gather and protest right in their face and scream at them.”
The SPLC claims that groups such as the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps to be just one step below a hate group.
One of the groups named in the report is the Virginia organization, Help Save Hampton Roads, which lobbies legislators to enforce and strengthen immigration laws.
The group’s director Belinda Dexter has served on a Virginia State Crime Commission immigration reform subcommittee.
After the rather slanderous report came out, Dexter told the Virginian-Pilot: “I’m real surprised that they used those terms so loosely with people who care about their state and the nation. That’s unfortunate that they would publish something that sounds more like hatred related scare tactics.”
Dexter continued: “It’s funny they should refer to us that way. It is absolutely not true. There’s no extremism.”
Help Save Hampton Roads, lists the following political goals on their website (helpsavehamptonroads.net):
“-Enforce a statewide ban on the use of illegal alien workers by licensed Virginia businesses (“The right of state and local governments to sanction business entities that employ unauthorized alien workers, by suspending their business licenses, have received two major endorsements from federal courts. These recent decisions in Missouri & Arizona confirm important legal doctrines that favor state and local enforcement in employment, contracting, public services, and related areas” ~ Immigration Reform Law Institute).
-Bar state and local contracts to firms found to employ illegal aliens and prohibiting illegal aliens from receiving public benefits.
-Mandate that the Governor shall enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Homeland Security for a cooperative agreement or 287(g) agreement.
-Prohibit in-state tuition for illegal aliens.
-Prohibit any form of state funding to Virginia counties, cities or town providing sanctuary policies to illegal aliens.
-City Councils request that all contractors and vendors certify that their employees are legal hires.
-City Councils enter into a 287(g) agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
Does any of that sound “extreme?”
The SPLC lists a total of 137 groups in their “Nativist Extremist” report. Among those on the list are every Minuteman group across the country, and basically every organization, both large and small which simply calls for the enforcement of already-existing immigration laws, as well as for the meaningful defense of our borders.
Unfortunately, for the SPLC, this report does not reveal the extreme position of Americans justifiably fed up with soaring crime and rising unemployment fueled by illegal immigration. However, it does reveal the extreme and rather senseless position of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Only a left-wing extremist, hell-bent on the destruction of this country would label citizens who want to see ours remain a nation of laws, as “extremist.”
As the undocumented Homeland Security Secretary, I am hereby placing the Southern Poverty Law Center on my own watch list.

The splc is a hate group. They hate white traditional america. All of the policies they support and the reports they put out reflect this.
Well, I guess the groups on the SPLC's list will have to join the rest of us church-going, gun-toting, pro-life, pro-traditional marriage right-wing-extremists whom the government sees as threatening...
[The worst part is, I don't hate or even dislike any of the groups that I'm accused of hating. I have close friends from many different ethnic (including Latin American, Pakistani, European, Middle Eastern & African), religious (Muslim - both Sunni and Shiite, Hindu, Jewish & Atheist) and lifestyle (homosexual) backgrounds.]
I don't hate Hispanics! The operative word in the whole discussion is ILLEGAL aliens. I just want immigrants to enter legally. When I go to other countries, I enter them LEGALLY...according to their laws. If I broke the immigration laws in another country, I'd be held accountable by their government. Why shouldn't we be able to uphold our own laws? Who decides what laws are OK to break & who is allowed to break them? It just makes no sense!

Always a hoot to hear the SPLC pontificating on "hate" when the group was founded by a self-avowed Klan lawyer, Morris Dees.
Even more hypocritical, if that's possible, is the fact that NOT ONE of the SPLC's top ten, highest paid officers is a minority, much less an immigrant.
The last remaining "Whites Only" sign in Montgomery, Alabama, hangs in the board room of the SPLC. Some "experts".
The SPLC denigrates anyone who advocates enforcing existing immigration law because, just like every other group in the Illegal Alien Industry, they're making millions off the situation.
Their latest IRS Form 990 shows that they have just under $190 MILLION donor dollars in cash on hand, and they keep begging for more.
The Better Business Bureau has not accredited them as a reputable charity in years, "due to a lack of commitment to transparency." It's all about the money.
The SPLC is a HATE group of the first degree.
They labeled the American Legion a 'nativist' group.
Does one need more proof of hate than that?
SPLC: Like who really cares about what these nutjobs say anyway, like what good do they really bring to our lives. Just like PETA, they are in in for themselves, and pity the folls whom they say they look it for, or maybe not.
Well then, 68% of American voters who want border security and not legalization/amnesty for illegals (per Rasmussen Reports) are "nativist extremist."
The SPLC is a joke, and simply not a credible source of information.

I am sure that the have been informed that many police department are rounding up aliens for minor violation in coflict with the intention of 286(g). The SPLC is a much discredited organization with a very shady fundraising record. Morris Dees, the co-founder of Southern Poverty Law Center, is a master of hate-mongering and using scare tactics in order to pressure mostly minorities and elderly contributors into donating money to the SPLC.
The tax-exempt SPLC flunked an audit by the Arlington-based Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance, which requires that "a reasonable percentage, at least 50 percent of total income from all sources, should be applied to programs and activities directly related to the purposes for which the organization exists." The SPLC spent only 11 percent of its total income on programs and activities directly related to the purposes for which the organization exists. The other 89 percent of the SPLC's total income was spent on fund-raising and administrative costs, including high salaries for its top officials.
SPLC's sole function in the immigration debate is to try to discredit any group or organization that supports a reduction in the level of legal immigration and/or the enforcement of immigration laws against illegal aliens. Any group or organization that dares to speak out against illegal immigration takes the risk of being added to the SPLC's infamous "hate groups" list as punishment.
An unsung hero of the American worker was exmarine, Cesar Chavez. His birthday is a holiday in a number of western states. He fought for the American farm worker and created the United Farm Workers union, winning better pay and work conditions. He sent some of his people to the border to report illegal aliens crosing over decades before th Minutemen groups. He was totally against illegal aliens taking jobs from Americans. The irony is that the illegal aliens claim him as a hero, that agricultural companys brought in illegal alien scabs to beat the union and last, but not least, I'm sure the SPLC would have branded him as a hating, xenaphobe, nativist racist.

You apparently don't know the first thing about the constitution. You're the one who needs to go back to elementary school. This country is all about obeying the law. Foreigners who come here through legal immigration channels are welcome to pursue the "American Dream". Illegal alien lawbreakers and criminals are in this country in violation of our immigration laws, and they are not welcome. To support illegal aliens is to support lawbreaking.
