Southern California Suzuki Open House.

On a warm July Saturday morning I found myself taking a road trip to Brea, California and forgoing my usual round of visits to motorcycle shops and events in the Inland Empire. I soon found my destination, Southern California Motorcycles (also known as So Cal Motorcycles) on Lambert Road. I have been planning on visiting this multi-brand dealership for a while after seeing their displays at different events around the area.
Getting to the point of this article, I was here for the official launch of the addition of Suzuki Motorcycles to their line-up of different brands they sell which are Ducati, Royal Enfield, Triumph and they also sell used motorcycles.
Suzuki is mostly known for the GSXR line of Sport Bikes (often referred to as Gixxers) along with the very fast and popular Hayabusa. Suzuki also sells cruisers, dual-purpose-adventure, touring, scooters, supermoto and ATV’s.
So Cal Motorcycles is set up in two buildings on the east side is Ducati and Suzuki with Triumph, Royal Enfield and Victory on the west side.
The parking area was only open to motorcycles for this event. The main drag, if you will had vendors on both sides with Moto Chop Shop, 30 second brake pedal kit, Law Tigers, Part Unlimited, Gasser Customs and Yoshimura which was right in front of the Suzuki shop doors, which is appropriate since Yoshimura -Suzuki motorcycles are usually at the front of superbike races. A cool thing going on this day only was if you bought a new Suzuki you got a free Yoshimura Signature Series Exhaust. Next to them was the food tent, which was free.
At the end of the lot there was a tent with Rebecca Barnhart, Kelly and Samantha Grover giving out shirts, raffle tickets and prizes. Rebecca is Marketing Coordinator, you probably have seen her at many events and shows around Southern California. The Band Love Echo Chamber was playing various styles of songs. There was a small area for a bike show and across from them were two bikini clad girls washing motorcycles.
Over on the other side you could buy a ticket for a chance to win a Royal Enfield Motorcycle and help support the Commemorative Air Force which just happens to be in Riverside.
I spent a few minutes talking with owner Tom Hicks and he told me he wants to make this “the” destination for fans and riders of Suzuki Motorcycles.
A walk through the various brands you will find all the bikes, parts and accessories are nicely displayed, you don’t feel overwhelmed by accessories and motorcycles things do catch your eye such as when you stand at the Ducati end of the building and look toward the Suzuki side you notice a display of Shoei Helmets, some with racing style themes. I also got the feeling of what each brand or style was about, such as Sport Bike riding in the Suzuki and Ducati area, the Victory area with the leather jackets up on the wall you get a sense of highway riding and a classic motorcycle vibe with the Royal Enfield and Triumph line.
