As other local Southern California resorts wind down the season, Snow Valley Mountain Resort has announced plans to remain open for snowboarding and skiing until May 2, 2010 and possibly longer.

Long spring
According to the resort’s website, “With all the snow we have received this winter and our deep snowpack, we're planning on a rather long spring of skiing and snowboarding! It is our intent to stay open as long as the snowpack and skier/snowboarder interest lasts! At this time, we plan to be open until May 2 and hopefully longer depending on business volume and snow conditions!”

Neighboring resorts
Remaining open through the beginning of May could mean that Snow Valley outlasts local neighboring resorts. In Big Bear, Bear Mountain is currently open only on weekends. Sister resort Snow Summit expects to be open through April 18 or longer. Wrightwood resort Mountain High expects to remain open at least through April 25.

Snow Valley currently has a three to six foot base of fresh and machine groomed snow. The resort received five to six inches of snow on Monday, April 12, bringing the current season snowfall total to 167 to 205 inches.

Snow Valley is open daily from 8:30am to 4pm. For more information or updated conditions visit the Snow Valley website or call 800.680.SNOW.
