Southern California’s tourism has been greatly effected by the government shut down. Californians are flabbergasted by the failure to resolve a national issue that greatly effects American citizens. Hikers and tourists have been turned away at their favorite locations such as the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation area and the Ronald Reagan National Library.
Along with tourism, government workers in southern California have also been sent home and furloughed until the government re-opens. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like either political party is willing to negotiate. The Republicans are adamant in their intention of defunding Obamacare, and the Democrats have declared their intentions of rejecting any vote with stipulations. The reach of the government is far and wide as many Americans are suffering while the war of political parties persists in Washington.
Until the political parties resume the business of governing the United States, federal workers must find alternative methods of supporting their families, and tourists must find other forms of entertainment while visiting California.
