The Trojans square off against the Huskies today in Washington.  The game kicks off at 3:30PM EDT.  Here is a look at some of the injury storylines going into the game.

USC:

  • True freshman quarterback, Matt Barkley, will have to sit this one out after sustaining a bruised shoulder in the victory against Ohio State a week ago. Barkley received a hard shot, which caused the bruise, compliments of Buckeyes’ defenders on an incomplete pass play in the third quarter.
  • All-American and safety-extraordinaire, Taylor Mays, is listed as questionable for the game against the Huskies after suffering a sprained knee against Ohio State. Mays suffered the injury after one of his own teammates fell into his knee while breaking up a play.
  • Joe McKnight missed two days of practice this week due to migraines. While McKnight has missed valuable practice time, he is likely to play against Washington and should have a big role in the game.
  • Southern Cal's nickelback and number three corner, Brian Baucham, will not be participating in today's game against the Huskies after suffering injuries as a result of a motorcycle accident.
  • Even though he has participated in practice leading up to the game, tailback Stafon Johnson has been battling the effects of the flu all week long. While the effects of the flu may impact his energy and performance, Johnson is not expected to miss any time today against the Huskies.
  • After being sidelined due to a toe injury suffered in practice, running back Marc Tyler is now waiting to hear whether or not he will need to have surgery on the toe. Said Tyler, “If I have to have surgery, I'd rather get it over with now.”

Washington:

  • Defensive tackle, De'Shon Matthews, will not be playing against the Trojans today after sustaining a knee injury against Idaho.
  • According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, “...everybody else who has been active should be ready to go. That includes DE Darrion Jones, who practiced Wednesday.
