Ubisoft announced Wednesday that the long-in-development South Park: The Stick of Truth for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC has finally gone gold. To celebrate, a making of video featuring South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker and the developers at Obsidian Entertainment was also released.
The official description of the game from a received press release states: "Written and voiced by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, South Park: The Stick of Truth is the definitive South Park experience. Arm yourself with weapons of legend to defeat underpants gnomes, hippies and other forces of evil. Discover the lost Stick of Truth and earn your place at the side of Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny as their new friend. Succeed and you shall be South Park’s savior, cementing your social status in South Park Elementary. Fail, and you will forever be known… as a douchebag."
This is the first South Park game where both Stone and Parker were heavily involved in with the development as they initially came up with the idea of a RPG-like experience that could easily be mistaken for an episode of the show. It's been a long process though as Stick of Truth was originally revealed at the end of 2011 and planned for a 2013 release. Development delays, plus a bankrupt publisher and the move to a new publisher further pushed the release of the title out to its now set March 4 release to the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
