Comedy Central's South Park has tackled video games before with episodes "Make Love, Not Warcraft," "Guitar Queer-O" and more. It was revealed Monday that this week's episode puts Mojang's popular Minecraft in the spotlight.
Titled "Informative Murder Porn," the second episode of South Park 17th season sees the boys use Minecraft as a way to distract their parents from hurting each other. A clip was released on the show's website (NSFW) with Randy and other parents beg one of the town's boys to teach them how to play the game.
It looks like South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have flipped cultural conventions on their head again as it is adults who are acting out violently because of the influence of video games and not kids. With the debate of video game violence still raging both culturally and politcally, it will be interesting to see how "Informative Murder Porn" satires the debate.
The episode will debut Wednesday, Oct. 2 on Comedy Central at 10 p.m. EST / 9 p.m. CST.
Minecraft is currently available on the PC, Xbox 360, plus iOS and Android devices. PS4, PS3 and Xbox One versions will release later this fall.
