Ubisoft released new screenshots for South Park: Stick of Truth screenshots Wednesday that gives another peek into the bizarre world of LARPing (Live Action Role-Playing) going wrong on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
This newest batch of images introduces the Giggling Donkey, the South Park version of a medieval tavern setup in one of the kid's living room. This comes complete with shady characters sitting a tables, a barkeep tending buckets of sports drink and a game of pin the tale on the donkey; just like the taverns of old.
Players take on the role of the new kid in town in Stick of Truth as the children of the town engage in a little Live Action Role-playing (LARPing). With Cartman in charge, things naturally go awry as the titular object is stolen leading the new kid on a quest to retrieve it and fighting hippies, vampire kids and crab people along the way.
Meanwhile, gameplay in Stick of Truth will be reminiscent of the Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi titles with turn-based battles and parties consisting of two players. Expect plenty of weapons, items and adventures that borrow directly from the show as South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are directly involved in the development.
South Park: The Stick of Truth has been in development at Obsidian Entertainment since at least 2011 when it was announced under THQ. The publisher eventually went bankrupt, however, and the game was picked up by Ubisoft in a bankruptcy auction. A release date has still yet to be announced but is expected to hit the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC by the end of 2013.
