South Korea's Jiyai Shin earned a trophy at the 2010 Evian Masters on July 25

Jiyai Shin, 22, is a South Korea native who is a golf player.  She started as an amateur golf player in high school and went professional in 2005.  on July 25, 2010, she beat U.S.A.'s Morgan Pressel at the 18th hole at the 2010 Evian Masters.  Evian Masters is a professional women's golf tournament that takes place in Evian, France every July.  Shin won by hitting the ball with just one stroke.

According to Rolex Rankings, Shin is the world's best golf player.  "I can't believe I am the Rolex Rankings No. 1," Shin said in LPGA.com. "There are so many good players out there. To think that I am No. 1, I just can't believe it."

Shin lost her mother in a car accident, and her father used the mother's life insurance to fund Shin's golf career, according to LPGA.com.  Her siblings spent a year in the hospital recovering from the car accident.

Shin also says golf is a big sport in Korea.
