In Greenville, S.C. a woman photographed a dog hanging from the balcony of the McBee Station; the picture went viral over social media this past weekend. On Monday, Tyler Smith was fined $1,093 for violating a city ordinance reported wbtv.com.
The Facebook page post of Heather Vincelette read:
"This picture was taken and posted on Facebook today when the photographer caught someone hanging their dog over the balcony of their condo at McBee Station in Greenville, to let the dog use the bathroom on the ground. The photo is making it's rounds and has been forwarded to authorities, but we're not sure anything is being done. Is this legal?"
The photo was then posted to the Greenville County Animal Care's Facebook page. Authorities had to then ascertain if the photo was legitimate.
And then came some justice for an innocent dog when authorities charged the dog owner's son Tyler Smith with violation of city ordinance Animal Care-General.
Smith's father told authorities his son was supposed to have been caring for his dog while he was away. The dog wasn't injured.
Congratulations to Heather Vincelette for being a voice for the those who cannot speak. It really does take everyone in the village to make this a better world for our four-legged friends.
According to Heather's Facebook page on Monday evening, the media coverage was overwhelming:
"One of the weirdest experiences in my life. Had a mic in every pocket, on every lapel, a light in my face and it was freezing. But the news guys were awesome!"
