South by So What Music Festival boasts over 100 bands at Dallas event

In its 7th year running, the South by So What Music Festival is a three day event showcasing an eclectic mix of musical genres Grand Prairie’s Quiktrip Park. With over 100 different bands playing March 14, 15th and 16th come see This year's festival includes major artists such as, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Bring Me The Horizon, Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, The Story So Far, Between The Buried & Me, August Burns Red, Motionless In White, We Came As Romans, and Mindless Self Indulgence.

Festival founder, Mike Ziemer and his company Third String Productions are celebrating ten years. Each year of the festival, the crowds get larger and larger. In 2008, the company saw attendance at 3,000 paid tickets and last year’s event they sold over 6000 tickets. For this year’s event expect even bigger crowds with over 100 bands a far cry from the 50 they had in 2013.

"When I first started promoting I was still in high school," Ziemer explains, "I was putting on shows with 500-600 people while still being front row for bands like Taking Back Sunday and The Used. For me, booking them on this event was the perfect 'full circle' moment where it finally hit me how big these festivals are getting!"

"This year's festival is kind of like the perfect storm, and no one that loves the music in this scene wants to miss it," Ziemer explains, "With the new Of Mice & Men album coming out of the gates at 55K albums sold, Bring Me The Horizon's headlining tour selling out dates across the country, The Used & Taking Back Sunday doing a co-headliner and releasing new albums, and the hot up and coming bands like Issues, The Story So Far, Neck Deep, Crown The Empire, and more on the bill, it's literally a dream come true for so many of the people that support our events."

This event was originally started to showcase bands headed to Austin's SXSW music showcases. Tickets for South By So What?! start at $45 for single day and $120 for 3-Day Passes.
