HLN show host Nancy Grace was given a tour of the Estrella Jail in Phoenix, Ariz. where accused murderer Jodi Arias is being held. On Jan. 30, 2013, Grace revealed on air she was told by sources that Arias has a jailhouse girlfriend.
“Jodi Arias is anything but bored behind bars... in fact, she’s got a girlfriend, according to sources…” said Grace.

Legal expert Matt Zarrell commented on Grace’s revelation, telling the HLN personality that the fact Arias is engaged in a jailhouse love affair is significant because it proves she can “charm her way into any relationship… but this time it is with the same sex—with a female.”

Arias is on trial for the brutal 2008 murder of her former lover Travis Alexander as he showered in his Mesa, Ariz. home. He was shot in the head, his throat was slashed from ear to ear, and he was stabbed 27 times.

Arias, 32, claimed the day of the murder she had been taking photos of Alexander in the shower, when she was hit on the back of the head. She said when she awoke Alexander was being killed by two masked intruders. One grabbed her, held a gun to her head, and told her if she talked he would kill her, according to her story. Arias alleged the man pulled the trigger and all she heard was a click so she ran down the stairs and out the door. She said she did not tell police about the incident because she was scared. She later admitted killing Alexander, saying she did so in self defense.

Testimony regarding Alexander keeping his affair with Arias secret took place on Thursday. Arias' trial is slated to resume on Monday.
