Sources say ex-cop Christopher Dorner exchanged gunfire with cops after burglary

A law enforcement official has reported on the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, that a person believed to be former Los Angles police officer Christopher Dorner has exchanged gunfire with police.

UPDATE: Dorner is said to be barricaded in a cabin at this point; two officers injured

It is being said that the former cop sought after in three killings was the man on the scene of a gunfire exchange earlier on Tuesday. The gunfire came in an exchange with authorities in the San Bernadino Mountains.

The officer reporting this news requested anonymity per The Associated Press because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing investigation.

Also from the officer, it is believed that Christopher Dorner committed a residential burglary before the shootout on Tuesday. The burglary was of a residential cabin, and it is believed that Dorner had a couple tied up inside. One of those that was tired up was able to get away and make a call that led to their rescue.

Authorities responded to the location of the of the call and proceeded to give chase early on Tuesday. Dorner fled the scene in a stolen car and gunfire was exchanged.

Reports are that hundreds of rounds were fired in the shootout. There are also reports that Dorner could be holed up somewhere with massive amounts of ammunition.

There is no word on if anyone was injured or where Dorner may be now.
