Find good quality items through online clearance.
Many eBay sellers find their inventory by checking the clearance section on the websites of major retailers. This works for sellers who don't like to go foraging for inventory, or who may have to be at home taking care of children or an elderly parent. Here are a few tips for shopping for online clearance merchandise.
Watch the shipping fees. Some sites make their money on shipping. Others charge a flat fee or will offer free shipping if a certain dollar amount of inventory is ordered. Be sure to factor in the shipping cost of the items as part of your inventory cost.
Always do your research. Just because something looks like a good deal doesn't mean it is. eBay is its own little world and you need to make sure that the item is profitable in the eBay marketplace. Be sure you can make a profit on the item before buying it for resale.
Be careful with quantities. If you are not familiar with an item and how it sells on eBay, only order a small quantity to take a test drive. You don't want to get stuck with 100 of something you can't sell. There will always be inventory to buy online - the internet isn't going anywhere. Be careful with your investment on inventory.
Check major websites regularly. Some sites with good clearance deals include Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Overstock.com, and Old Navy. Check them often.
