The Seattle Sounders FC (6-2-1) beat a stubborn Philadelphia Union (1-4-5) 2-1 to win their fourth consecutive match and take top spot in MLS.

Despite Seattle Sounders FC recent run the Philadelphia Union came into Century Link with winning intentions.

Philadelphia Union took an early one nil lead when Brad Evans inadvedently headed the ball into the back of the Seattle Sounder FC after a Philadelphia Union free kick.

It was MacMath’s third penalty save of the season.

Seattle Sounder FC forward Obafemi Martin’s left footed shot from the center of the box found it’s way to the back of the Philadelphia Union net and the game was tied after 61 minutes of play.

Seattle Sounder FC midfield Brad Evans was credit with the assist.

Seattle Sounders FC continued their attack on the Philadelphia Union penalty box and their persistence paid off in the 84 minute.

Marco Pappa’s corner kick was headed into the back of the Philadelphia Union net by substitute Chad Marshall.
“ Was at the right place at the right time, feels good to score and get the win,” Marshall said after the game.

Seattle’s next game will be Wednesday against FC Dallas
-Sounders FC is now 3-1-0 this season when conceding the first goal, including wins in the last three.

-Seattle leads the league with 13 goals scored in the second half this season.

-Obafemi Martins now has four goals on the season, good for second on the team. He has now scored a goal in three consecutive games and recorded a point in seven of his nine appearances.
