Becky and Jason recently got married and their Sounders-themed wedding made the event even more unique for everyone involved.
"We met through mutual friends," says Becky. "I had known Jason's sister for many many years before I ever even knew about him. We were friends for a couple years before we began dating."
"We got along OK," says Jason of their early meetings, "but didn't talk for awhile and then ran into each other at a picnic on the 4th of July a few years back. Then we started hanging out and then started dating. Becky didn't go to very many games last season and so I was solo most of the season. Once she met all of my ECS and Black Hills Militia friends, she kinda got a better feel for what I was doing and how much fun it was. While we were is Houston for the playoff match, she really got a taste of the comraderie and how much passion everyone there had for the team. So after hanging out at more ECS/Sounder functions in the offseason, she became a season ticket holder with me in the Brougham End."

Then came love, and a Sounders match proposal. "He proposed to me via tifo, made by the amazing Matt Flower, at the Real Salt Lake away game earlier this year," recalls Becky. "We were doing the pogo and our capo, Sean, called for everyone to put up their tifo and such. When he told everyone to put them back down Jason turned me to look into the crowd and there was Matt holding up the tifo with our pictures on it and it said "Becky, will you marry me?" Then I turned to see Jason holding my ring out to me. Totally fantastic proposal. Better than I could ever have thought."
"The wedding came about from the idea that we would do it at Qwest before a match. But unfortunately we weren't able to do that," Jason says. "So we decided to make it Sounder-themed, and the front office was gracious enough to get me a long sleeve away jersey to wear for my "tux" in commemoration of the away proposal (even though we wore green that day, the blue are technically the away strip.) Once we figured out a date, we talked to Jeff from Ruffneck Scarves and he offered to make scarves for our wedding!"

Becky was fine with the Sounders-based wedding plans. "I will say that I wanted this to be totally laid back, comfortable, so when Jason wanted to wear the jersey that Bart Wiley (Sounders front office) gave him, I had no problem with it. The Sounders and our BHM and ECS famlies are such a huge part of our lives that I knew it would be totally us to have a Sounders-themed wedding. And yes there was some chanting and some scarves being held up at the end of the ceremony (it kind of confused some of our non-Sounder fan guests.) Too funny!"
I ask Becky about naming future kids after Sounders players. Maybe Alvaro, or perhaps Roger? "Totally Roger," she answers quickly. "Kasey is a dang good name too though."

Jason's forum tag is "Evilive," and Becky's is "Bug." Both nicknames show up on the wedding scarves. (Photos courtesy of Melissa Brassard)
