Seattle Sounders FC(11-4-2, 35 points) will be looking to quickly get back to their winning ways when they take on I -5 rival Portland Timbers( 4-9-5, 21points) in Wednesdays Lamar U.S. Open quarterfinal match at the Star Fire Soccer Stadium

The Sounders are looking to rebound from a lack luster 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Vancouver Whitecaps in BC. The Sounders were missing six starters for various reasons, and it showed with the offense generating just two shots on goal against the Whitecaps.

Except for Clint Dempsey most of the missing starters will be available for Wednesday's clash with the Portland Timbers. The match up should be a wide open affair with FC Sounders looking to use the width of the field to advance the ball down the ball. Portland will look to feed striker Fanendo Adi inside the box. The former FC Copenhagen striker is big, versatile and quick with a lethal shot that can find it's way to the back of the net.The availability of Gonzalo Pineda, Osvaldo Pineda and Obefami Martins and even De Andre Yedlin will give FC Sounders Coach Sigi Schmid plenty of options for the two game clash with the Timbers. Seattle and Portland will face off Saturday Night at Century Link for a regular season MLS game.

Regular season,Cascadia Cup or U.S.Open Cup, the two arch rivals will have their battle gear on and ready for battle when the ref blows the whistle on wednesday to begin the game.The rivary between Seattle and Portland has grown into one of the largest and most bitter rivalries in American soccer. The two teams have battled each other 85 times spanning several leagues including the A-League, USL First Division NASL, and now Major League Soccer. Sounders FC hold the overall advantage in League play (37-26-10) and U.S.Open Cup Play(3-1-0).
