Seattle Sounders FC (7-2-1 22pts) made it five games in a row with a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas (5-4-1 16pts) in a rare midweek clash at the Xbox Pitch at Century Link Field

The dramatic come from behind win gives Sounders FC a five-point lead in the race for the Western Conference crown.

As has often been the case in the last five games, Seattle Sounders FC spotted their opponent a one-goal lead.

“ Obviously we would like not to go down by giving up a penalty or early goal, but we have been resilient and shown great character in coming back and winning,” Sounders Coach Sigi Schmid said after the game.

FC Dallas took the lead after 16 minutes had elapsed in the first half when Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Brad Evans fouled Dallas Blas Perez and a penalty kick was awarded.

FC Dallas’s Michel gave his team the one nil leads when he stepped up and swiftly kicked the ball into the back of the Seattle Sounders FC net

The rest of the half was a twenty-nine minute fouls fest that saw nineteen fouls and two yellow cards given out to each team

“ They tried to slow us down by clogging the middle, being physical and slow on their free kicks, said Seattle Sounders FC Brad Evans.

Despite the foul fest Seattle Sounders FC had two good opportunities to level the game before the halftime break.

FC Dallas netminder Raul Fernandez came up big on two occasions.

One on Clint Dempsey’s right footed shot at the 24 minute mark from outside the box and Dempsey ‘s attempted through ball header to Martins running towards the FC Dallas net was kicked into the middle of the pitch by Fernandez.

Seattle Sounders FC began the second half with a strategy to play the ball wide and find pockets in which to make quick crosses against the congested FC Dallas defensive.
Clint Dempsey 57th minute, Marco Poppa 59th and 61 minute all had good looks at the FC Dallas net that were left wanting.

Obafemi Martins cross from the left side of the box found Birthday boy Lamar Neagle who promptly left footed the ball into the back of the Dallas FC net to put the teams back on level terms.

“ When you have guys like Oba and Clint you know that your runs will be rewarded,” Lamar Neagle said of the pass he received from Martins on his near post run.

Former FC Dallas player Kenny Cooper who was a late game sub found himself on the end of another exquisite Obefami Martins pass and wasted no time in finding the back of the FC Dallas net to give FC Sounders another dramatic come from behind victory.
