Bethany Hamilton’s inspirational story stole hearts across America. Now, she has stolen the heart of Christian Youth Minister Adam Dirks. According to a People report dated Monday, August 19, the pair tied the knot in Hawaii on Sunday.
“I look forward to being the best wife that I can be for Adam and to starting our new adventure together,” Hamilton, 23 tells People.
“I love surfing, but getting married doesn’t even compare. This was definitely the best night of my life,” she continued.
Fans were excited to learn of the couple’s engagement in May, while Hamilton happily gushed about the man of her dreams on her blog. She gave details of the engagement, and how Dirks initiated the proposal. She described it as “beautiful and perfect.”
They said their “I Do’s” in front of 300 guests on a secluded hilltop close to the town of Kilauea, where Hamilton was raised.
The happy couple had a large bridal party, consisting of 13 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen, who were all barefoot. They wrote and said their own vows to one another. Ben Harper’s “The Three of Us” was their first dance as a married couple.
The young surfer refused to give up her passion of surfing after losing her left arm in a shark attack. Hamilton plans to continue her surfing career, along with her motivational speaking. Of course, she is also looking forward to spending quality time with her husband. As a devout Christian, Hamilton has continued to be a positive role model around the world.
