Sam Mendes steps out of the directing chair for Bond 24. After the commercial and nomination success of Skyfall, EoN (James Bond production company) and even Daniel Craig desired to sign Mendes up for more 007 action. Breaking news leaks out that his commitments to the stage projects of ‘King Lear’ and ‘Charlie and the chocolate Factor’ are his determining factors.
In a recent interview Mendes touched base, "It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael and Barbara’s very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie. Directing SKYFALL was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond."
The twenty-third outing for James Bond struck gold from script to title song to director. Amassing over the $1 billion dollar mark in the global box office, Skyfall not only made strides for the series as being one of the best, if not best film of the series, the film pushed sky high to be one of the best films of all of 2012.
One of the main reasons for success had been the stellar directing from Academy Award winner Sam Mendes. American Beauty may have garnered the win, though each of Mendes’ films are able to tie in such emotional ties with the surrounding action; which heavily supported Skyfall to hit plenty of high notes.
Hopefully EoN will find a suitable director to match, or be relevant to the beauty of Skyfall.
