Feet in Ottawa are a little warmer and dryer this winter as fashion turns practical.
Sorels have been on the shelves of outdoor and sports stores since 1962.
This year, they have hit popular mainstream spots like Aritzia.
Glebe Trotters, a shoe store in Ottawa, has kept placing orders for the boots to keep up with demand. 
Last year, Uggs were all the rage. Though warm and fuzzy on the inside, the Australian boots were designed for sand and quickly became soggy and salt stained in Ottawa weather.
Sorel's philosophy is, "We believe that when your feet are taken care of, you can be more spontaneous, and that your boots should last as long as the experiences you have in them."
But for many, it comes down to cold feet. The temperature in Ottawa can dip down to -22F.
"For the first time, my feet don't freeze every time I walk outside," says Marieke Walsh, who bought a pair this year.
